First-Person Combat: Gladiator Warrior

  • Engineered advanced enemy AI for NPC 1 with dynamic roam, chase, and lethal sword combos. Implemented a seamless respawn system for AI. Enriched player experience with versatile combat options melee and ranged.

  • Crafted an immersive game world featuring interactive elements like collectibles, weapon pickups. Introduced NPC 2, an explosive adversary, enhancing player challenge. Developed in Unreal Engine Blueprints.

Level Description

​Embark on an epic journey in the Gladiator Warrior arena, a 3D first-person combat environment. Players will face relentless challenges as they encounter aggressive enemies, navigate dynamic landscapes with collectibles and weapon pickups, and strategically engage explosive adversaries. The level is designed to test the player's combat skills, offering a blend of melee and ranged encounters, with a respawn system keeping the action relentless.

Design Goals and Inspiration

My primary goal for Gladiator Warrior was to create an immersive and engaging combat arena that seamlessly blends AI complexity, dynamic environments, and diverse player weaponry. Inspired by RPG elements, I aimed to offer players a challenging yet rewarding experience, with influences drawn from classic arena-based combat games.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

Developing the advanced AI for NPC 1 posed a significant challenge, demanding intricate behavior design and effective respawn integration. Overcoming this, I refined our approach to dynamic NPC behavior, enhancing the overall player experience. Additionally, balancing combat diversity and ensuring a seamless musical backdrop were key lessons, ultimately contributing to a more immersive gameplay environment.
